Establish Criteria for Making a Good Choice
There are many options and things to consider with nursing homes. That’s why a good place to start is in establishing your own criteria for what is most important to you and your family. This is an essential discussion that you should undertake with family, friends and, if possible, the person who will be living in a nursing home. Ideally, you should develop a list, prioritized by what is most necessary, that will guide you throughout the search process.
Many of the items discussed in other “Choosing a Nursing Home” sections could be included in your list of criteria. But remember, it is your list. So think about what are the key factors to consider for your loved one, you and your family.
